NRN Ordinanace approved by HMG
NRN to enjoy more facilities and rights in Nepal
Kathmandu, Sept 9 - The government has made legal provisions
for Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) to enjoy unlimited entry visa,
business facilities and rights equivalent to Nepali citizens.
In a bid to boost up the country's economy which is ailing
form the ongoing conflict, the government has taken initiative
to attract investment from Nepalis residing abroad by
announcing an ordinance related to non-resident Nepalis
recently.
According to the ordinance, the families of non-resdient
nepalis willing to invest in the country will be given an
initial visa for ten years.
The provision also allows a NRN to renew the visa for another
ten years at a time. They will also be allowed to invest in
foreign currency and take their dividends in the same
currency.
They will be given a separate identity card and will be free
to move to any parts of this country like a common citizen.
The government’s ordinance comes in response to repeated
demands by the NRN Association for a separate ordinance to
facilitate them to invest and reside in Nepal.
