Aims and
Objectives
 
   
 
1. To promote close cooperation among Nepalese and friends of Nepal in North America.
2. Preserve and promote Nepalese identity and culture in North America.
3. Promote good relations with Nepal.
4. Promote social and charitable activities.
 


Membership
 
   
 
1. Nepalese resident in North America.
2. Non-Nepalese who have friendly relationship with Nepal and Nepalese.
3. Honorary persons who makes substantial contribution to the benefit of the association.
 


Membership Fees
and Categories
 
   Fees will be decided by the Executive Committee  
 
1. Family.
2. Single.
3. Student.
4. Life.
5. Honorary member – no fee.
6. Benefactor – who contributes $100.00 or more.
 


Executive Committee 
 
    The Executive Committee shall consist of  
 
1. President.
2. Vice-President.
3. Secretary.
4. Other Members (5 – 9 members).
5. Immediate past President (ex officio).
6. Newsletter Editor.
 


Committees
 
   The Executive Committee shall appoint such committee as  
 
1. Fund raising committee.
2. Social and cultural committee.
3. Newsletter and editorial committee. Newsletter committee will consist of the president, past president or the secretary, editor, and associate editor. Editor will chair the Newsletter committee.
4. Any other committee as deemed necessary such as Advisory, etc.
 


Duties of
the Officers
 
   
 
1. The president shall preside at all business meetings of the association and shall have general leadership of the association. He/she shall be a permanent resident.
2. The vice-president shall perform the duties of the president in the absence or the resignation of the president until the next annual meeting and election. He/she shall be a permanent resident.
3. The secretary shall function as the coordinator of the association. He/she shall keep and read the minutes of all the business meetings of the association. He/she shall be a permanent resident.
4. The treasurer shall be the custodial of all funds of the association. He/she shall receive all the funds and shall pay all the bills upon authorization of the executive committee. He/she shall maintain a bank account in the name of the association. He/she shall be a permanent resident.
 


Budget
 
   
 
Operating expense budget will be set by the executive committee. Major expenses not in the budget will be incurred only after unanimous agreement between the president, secretary and the treasurer
 


Trust Fund
 
   
 
Executive committee will control the fund and will use the fund on the recommendation of the trust committee
 


Meetings
 
   
 
1. General body meeting of the association will be held annually at a place selected by the executive committee. Advance notice must be given to all members of the association. Election and/or approval of the nominating committee’s recommendation for the new executive committee members will be done by the general body.
2. The executive committee will meet periodically at a convenient place to discuss the business. If an executive member does not attend three (3) consecutive meetings or does not send a proxy vote, he/she will automatically cease to be an executive member.
 


Special Meeting
 
   
 
Special meetings may be held at the call of the president or upon the written request of two-third (2/3) members of the executive committee
 


Election
 
   
 
1. A nomination committee of three (3) members from the regular membership shall be appointed by the executive committee, at least two (2) months before the election. One of the three members will be designated as the chairman. The committee will seek and process the nomination, written or verbal, and recommend a list of candidates for the different position. The nomination committee should attempt to recommend at least one (1) candidate for each position. The list of candidates will be recommended to the general body for election.
2. At the annual meeting, nomination from the floor for any or all positions will be accepted. The candidate must be physically present at the annual meeting or have consented to the nomination committee in writing – in advance.
3. The chairman or a member of the nomination committee will serve to conduct and supervise the election.
4. Only the current dues paying members will be eligible to vote.
5. All officers shall serve without compensation for the period he/she is elected and be eligible for the reelection to the position previously held or new.
6. Should a position fall vacant (either by resignation or death of a member), the president could nominate a person to fill the position.
 


Amendments
 
   
 
The general body shall have the sole power to make amendment, alter or repeal the by-laws of the association.
 


Dissolution of Association
 
   
 
Dissolution of association may be decided by the tw0-third (2/3) majority of the voting members of the general body. The residual funds shall be applied to the association’s dissolution aim.
